Beating Hills with Split Level Home Designs

Beating Hills with Split Level Home Designs

How a Split-Level Home Can Work on a Sloping Block

The South East of Queensland is known for its gorgeous beaches, lush bushland and – as every avid walker and cyclist knows – hilly terrain.  Building into the hillside, although daunting at first, can be extremely rewarding. What the sloped block offers is the breath-taking views, unmatched privacy and an engaging twist on your home. When combined with the uniqueness of the split-level design, it offers a range of different project options to fit any creative mind.

Conquering the South East Terrain

One major problem that comes with building a new home is the effort and time that goes into preparing the ground before the first nail is struck. Understanding the different slope percentages, identifying soil types and bedrock depth can be dauting for first time builders or even returning home builders. Tangara Construction’s extensive knowledge of difficult building sites and challenging designs make them experts in not only sloping split level builds but every aspect of boutique home building.

The Split Design

Unlike traditional house designs like single story or duplexes, the split design allows for a more unique approach to home building, with reduced excavation, less retaining walls and a gentle driveway, this helps to pave the way for a seamless build, despite the exciting challenge. The split level also offers a degree of individuality with the option of including slight separation between entertaining spaces and sleeping, or kitchen and bathroom, or any custom design that suites your needs. Tangara Construction specialise in not only personalised service, but personalised designs, working alongside you throughout the entire process so you remain fully informed throughout the build.

Something Unique

Modern home design and construction has reached new levels of creativeness and style, with the pinnacle of both culminating in the sloped split-level homes. When it comes to building your home, there are thousands of different factors that come to mind, form paint colours to the direction of the wind, where Tangara thrive is ensuring that every factor is met and done exactly how you want them.

Tangara Construction pride themselves on the work that they produce, with expert experience, integrity and a high level of professionalism and personalised service. Popular Kitchen Trends of 2020

In most homes, the kitchen is one of the most important rooms to keep modernized. A very popular feature in kitchens today is having a large island. The large island allows for extra storage space and seating while enhancing the overall aesthetic of your kitchen. Hidden kitchens are also a very popular design choice of 2019. This design allows appliances to be concealed behind wall-to-wall cabinetry while creating a very trendy minimalist design. The colours chosen are also an important aspect of your kitchen. Fortunately, both soft and chalky colours as well as black have returned as popular design choices in 2019. These colours will easily allow you to integrate both nature and technology into your design in order to keep your home in-style.

Keep your Outdoor Living Area Trendy and Functional

Queensland weather is a very attractive quality of living on the Gold Coast. It is important that your outdoor living space is equipped to deal with this high traffic area for entertaining family and friends. Popular designs include the outdoor space as an extended part of the home. This allows the home to feel much bigger while still associating it with the living space. Ceiling fans will keep the area comfortable and cool on warmer days, while adding a unique look to the space. Bi-fold doors also keep the space trendy while protecting your home from wind and rain.

Sustainable Building Trends

Flexible spaces are increasingly popular in homes. These spaces allow for rooms to be connected, allowing more people to be involved in activities. Having an open floor plan allows the home to feel bigger while utilizing the square footage. Indoor-outdoor living has also become extremely popular when designing new homes. More people are using natural heating and cooling to embrace the areas surrounding their home. Whether simply adding outdoor furniture or bi-fold doors, it is easy to feel connected to nature.

Tangara Constructions will work with you to personalise your custom home in Queensland from start to finish. No matter the location, builders will work with you directly to design your home. Our team specializes in challenging sites, sloping blocks, and split level and luxury homes.

Riverstone Two-Storey Custom Home Project

Overview

As first-time builders, Greg and Tara Langeveld were looking to work with someone who would guide them through the process and communicate openly.

“From the very first consultation, Shane took us through every single step in really simplified terms. He was so approachable and really put us at ease,” said Greg Langeveld.

They didn’t want to build something stock standard and were looking for a builder who could create their dream home that would stand out from the rest while still fitting into the neighbourhood.

“We didn’t want a standard project builder! We wanted a bespoke builder to help us create our dream home. We had already spoken to two other builders and had become despondent with the lack of flexibility, and their resistance to build anything other than their set designs. Shane was the only one who could do exactly what we wanted,” said Greg.

The Process

Tangara Constructions treat every job as a priority. We were able to deliver highly personalised services to Greg and Tara and talk them through every step of the way.

“Shane is the kind of person who is always there if you need to talk to him. He was so easy to deal with because he isn’t dealing with too many projects at once. We knew our work was a priority for him,” said Greg.

We guided Greg and Tara through every stage of the building process, from initial consultation to the design and build, all the way through to hand over.

The Challenge

The client didn’t want to build a stock standard home. They wanted a bespoke home designed and built to reflect their personal needs. As a specialist company in bespoke builds, Tangara Constructions were able to build a home to their exact specifications.

“The most challenging aspect of our job was that we didn’t want something out of the norm! We wanted something special and that didn’t look like everything else that was getting built,” said Greg.

The Outcomes

Tangara Constructions completed the project ahead of time to an extremely high standard.

“It surpassed our expectations. The timing was actually one week ahead of schedule. They were also bang on price! We have absolutely achieved our dream home,” Said Greg.

Tips For Selecting Your Builder

Tips For Selecting Your Builder

Practicle tips on selecting your new home builders in Brisbane

When choosing a new home builder in Brisbane there are many options. Researching and meeting with home builders is a strenuous, but important task. The right builder will understand that your home should not be taken lightly and will prove that they are willing and able to take on the task. Our team at Tangara understands the importance of building your home and has some tips for how to narrow down your home builder search.

Look At References

Something you should always ask for is references. A builder should have them readily available for potential clients to refer to. These are important because they are other clients’ opinions on working with that builder. If they do not have any or are refusing to show you them, that is a major red flag.

Check Out Their Portfolio

Another item a builder will always have is a portfolio of previous work. This can usually be found on their website or can be provided if you ask for it. This is important because it has examples of their previous builds in different locations. You will be able to see the designs they have created and how they were able to specify the different aspects for each client.

Go With Your Gut

The most important thing you can do when selecting a builder is go with your gut. How was your meeting with them – did they have good ideas about how to make your dream home? Did they seem rude or uninterested? Remember that you will be meeting with them many times while your home is being built, so you want a builder you like.

There are many options for new home builders in Brisbane. However, it is important that the builder that designs your home is someone you are comfortable working with. When deciding who that builder should be, consider their references and portfolio and go with your gut.

At Tangara Constructions, we understand the thought and attention that needs to be put into building your dream home. Tell us about your project and how we can assist you – contact our team today.
